This is a simple pencil sharpener (injection molded hard plastic), inspired by the mechanism of pencil sharpening. The design is based on a conical shape (the tip of the pencil) cut by a tangent plane (the knife blade), and the transition from the rotation of the pencil to the rotation of the waste that is removed.
The yellow symbolizes sharpness, the essence of the product’s function. The red clarifies the lid as a separate component, but the colors are still “working together”. The contact surfaces (outside of the container and lid) are matte to provide better grip and signal friction, the rest of the surfaces are glossy to provide better sharpening effect and signal smoothness.
